Changes To The Software

 

There are some changes that you will need to make in the Xenetech.ini file BEFORE you install the new "short" APU card.  

 

  1. In Xenetech, select Misc | Edit .INI Files...

  2. Under the Xenetech INI file in the Xenetech section:

Set Download1=1 to read: Download1=0

Set Download2=1 to read: Download2=0

 

 

Next, under the Xenetech INI file we must add a line under the Spool Section. (See below)

Speed Settings

 

Your standard software speed settings can be used with the short card as long as you are connected to a stepper system. Use the following basic speed settings if connected to a servo system:

 

Values used for servos systems 1313 and 1625

Traversing Index = 0--20 average.               10 is standard.

Deceleration Index = 75--125 average.      90 is standard.

Z DN Speed = 40--100 average.                50 is standard.

Z UP Speed = 40--100 average.                 50 is standard.

XY Speed = 5--25 average.                       10 is standard.

 

 

Values used for servos systems 2525

Traversing Index = 10--30 average.             15 is standard.

Deceleration Index = 100--140 average.   120 is standard.

Z DN Speed = 40--100 average.                50 is standard.

Z UP Speed = 40--100 average.                 50 is standard.

XY Speed = 10--40 average.                     25 is standard.

 

 

Short APU Board installation and settings

 

This version of the APU does not require IRQ settings. All that is required is that the board be jumpered to the right address.  The following chart can be used for the address settings:

 

 

 

 

The addresses are set using the j4 jumper on the APU card.  Location 0 and 1 are the two locations that are used to set the address.

 

The chart above shows the settings for the four addresses.  For example:

 

Remember the jumpers are placed vertical on the APU card, going across the top and bottom pins.
