Downloading and extracting update disks

 

The current software update can be found by going to www.xenetech.com and going to the download section.  Once you are at the download page you will be faced with a choice to make.  There are two kinds of files that you can choose from, a single executable file and the three executable files.

 

Single Executable File

Selecting this will download one single file to your computer.  After it is finished, double clicking the file will install the software.  Once the software is installed the executable file can be deleted.

 

Three Executable Files

Downloading these three files takes a little more work but in the end you will end up with three disks that you can store in case you would need them at a later date.

The software update may be used with any of the 5 series software. In other words, it may be installed if you currently have 5.0 or higher installed on your PC.

 

Please print these instructions for future reference.

 

To download and create the three update disks follow the directions below.

  1. On download page, 'Click' on "Disk1.exe".

  2. A dialog will appear asking if you would rather save the file to disk or download from the current location.  Select Save File to Disk and press OK

  1. Select the folder in which you wish to download the file and click on SAVE

 

The first file will begin downloading to the specified folder.  Once the download is finished, repeat the above steps for Disk 2.exe and Disk 3.exe.  

 

Be sure to save all three files to the same folder.  This will help avoid confusion when it comes time to look for them.

 

 

Creating The Update Disks

 

Now that we have downloaded the three executable files (Disk 1.exe, Disk 2.exe, Disk 3.exe) it is time to extract them and create our update disks.  Follow the directions below to extract and create the disks.

  1. Label 3 blank, formatted 3.5", 1.44MB diskettes "Disk 1", "Disk 2", and "Disk 3".

  2. Locate the folder in which you downloaded the three executable files.

  1. Place "Disk 1" into your disk drive.

  2. Double 'click' on the file "Disk1.exe".

  3. When the WinZip Self-Extractor dialog appears, type in the letter, followed by a colon, of your 3.5" disk drive ("a:" or "b:") in the "Unzip to folder" input field.

  1. 'Click' on the "Unzip" button.

Disk 1.exe will be extracted to the disk labeled Disk 1.  Repeat steps 2 through 6 above for disks 2 and 3, using the corresponding disk and self-extracting file ("Disk 2" for disk2.exe and "Disk 3" for disk3.exe).

 

 

To Install The Update

  1. Place Disk 1 into the disk drive of the PC to be updated.

  2. 'Click' on the Start button, then choose Run...

  3. In the "Open" input field type in the letter of your disk drive, followed by "setup" (i.e. "a:setup" or "b:setup").

  1. Click OK to launch the Install Shield Wizard.

Follow the on screen instructions to complete the installation of your software update.
