Salvaging Jobs
"I sent a multiple plate job to the laser and I didn't turn on grid cut out....how do I cut out my plates? "
In order to save this job, we have to change a few values. First of all we need to change the Grid Cut Out Amount.
In Xenetech go to Misc | Setup...
Change the Grid Cut Out Amount to "0".
Setting the Grid Cut Out Amount value to "0" will allow the laser to cut along the guide rulers.
Delete all of the plates except for the first one
Delete everything off of the plate.
Go to the Plate | Grid Cut Out On and turn on Grid Cut Out.
Go to Edit | Copy Plate...
Enter in the amount of plates that you originally deleted.
At this point we should have the same amount of plates that were there to start with, but with nothing on them.
Now when you send the job over again, the laser will do the grid cut out. Don't forget to go back to
Misc | Setup... once the job is finished, and change the Grid Cut Out Amount back to its original value. The default value is .25
My laser stopped halfway through my job....can i save it?
If the laser stops in the middle of a job, there is a way to salvage the job. Be sure that you cancel the current job at the laser and in the software, then do the following.
On the laser keypad, be sure that the laser says "Ready".
Press "Enter" on the keypad.
Using the left, right, up and down arrows scroll to the "Rates" option.
Press "Enter" on the keypad.
Highlight the power option and using the down arrow, set the power to "0".
Press "Enter" on the keypad.
What we just did was set the lasering power to zero. This will temporarily override any value that we input in the Engraver Setup Dialog. This way once the job is sent to the laser it will go through the motions but will not engrave anything.
With the job on the screen:
Go to File | To Engraver...
Be sure that the power and speed settings are correct for what you wish to laser.
Press OK to send the job to the laser.
Once the job is at the laser press start to begin. Now watch the laser as it runs. When it gets to the point where the job stopped on the previous run:
Press "Pause" on the keypad.
Press "Enter" on the keypad.
Using the left, right, up and down arrows scroll to the "Rates" option.
Press "Enter" on the keypad.
Highlight the power option and using the down arrow, set the power to "100".
Press "Enter" on the keypad.
Press "Start" on the keypad to continue the job.
Now the laser will pick up where it left off running at the desired power that was set in the software.
