Setting Up a Long APU Card

Setting The IRQ

Long APU boards run off of an APU board address and the use an IRQ off of the computer.  The long board will use either:

Before the board is installed in the computer, we need to see which IRQ is available on the computer.

In the computers control panel, double click on the System Icon.

Click on the Device Manager tab.

Be sure that Computer is highlighted as shown below and click the Properties button.

Select the View Resources tab.  This is a listing of all the IRQ's on the computer and what is using them.  If a number is not being used it WILL NOT BE LISTED.  Find an IRQ that is not listed that matches one from the APU board.  After that, shut down the computer and set the jumper on the APU board to match the open IRQ on the computer.

Setting the APU Board Address

If you are running only one APU board, then it is best to leave the address set at the default.  If you are running multiple engravers, you will want to read here about how to set up the boards and the computer to do this.
