PrecisionScan Software
Follow the instructions below to scan and load an image into Xenetech or another vector program using the HP PrecisionScan software.
Place the image into the scanner.
Press the Green button on the front of the scanner or go to Start | Programs | HP Scanning Software | HP PrecisionScan
Either of the above will bring up the HP PrecisionScan dialog.
In the HP PrecisionScan dialog, go to Settings | Page Settings...
Select Set custom resolution and set it to 300 DPI.
Select Save this custom resolution, and use every time.
Select Take extra time to rescan for higher resolution values.
Click on OK.
In the HP PrecisionScan dialog, go to Settings | Preferences...
Click on the Auto Detect tab.
Turn off Detect regions on the page.
Click on OK.
In the HP PrecisionScan dialog, click on the Scan Speed button.
Click on the Faster Scan speed radio button.
Click on the Best quality Text or B/W Drawings/Lower quality Photographs button.
Click on OK.
Click on Scan.
The scanner will scan the image using the settings selected above.
Drag a selection box around the area of the image that you wish to scan.
Go to Settings | Region Type...
Select Black and white drawing.
Click on OK.
Go to Edit | Copy (The image will be copied to the windows clipboard)
Open Xenetech or any other vector program (CorelDraw for example).
Go to Edit | Paste (The image will be automatically be pasted into your program.)
The scanned image will appear on the screen and is now ready for editing or engraving.
If placing the image into Xenetech one of two things will happen.
The image will appear on the screen ready to be engraved.
A dialog will appear asking you to save the image as a logo. If this happens:
Give the file a name
Click on OK
Click and drag a selection box on the Screen
The logo will appear ready to be engraved.
Depending on how your softwares INI file are set will determine if Xenetech requires you to save the image as a logo before pasting. To find out more about this click here.
