Precision Scan Pro Software

Follow the instructions below to scan and load an image into Xenetech or another vector program using the HP Precision Scan Pro software.

1. Place the image into the scanner.

2. Preview the image by pressing the preview button in the tool bar

3. Once the image comes up on the screen, drag a box around the image – do this by holding down the left button mouse and drawing a box from the top left corner to the bottom right corner as shown below.

4. Select the resolution as 300 or 600 DPI . This resolution is the best for black and white artwork.

5. Go to Output type | Black and White | Scalable (vector)

6. Go to Edit | Copy

7. Open Xenetech or any other vector program (CorelDraw for example).

8. Go to Edit | Paste

The scanned image will appear on the screen and is now ready for editing or engraving.

Saving the Image for Later Use

If you want to save the file to the hard drive:

• Go to File | Save As...

• Under Save as Type select Windows Metafile (*.wmf)

• Under  File Name, name the file.

Be sure to save the file into the C:/xfiles/wmf directory
