Software Settings for the Xenetech Laser
The following can also be used to configure the ports for a Meistergram Laser as well.
Configuring the Laser Com Port
Right click on my computer and select Properties.
Under the System Properties dialog, Select the Device Manager tab.
Scroll down and click the “+” sign next to Ports.
Highlight the Com Port that your laser is connected to and click on the Properties button at the bottom of the dialog.
Click on the Port Settings tab.
Enter the settings as shown below:
Bits per second 57600 *38400 for Meistergram Lasers*
Data bits 8
Parity Even
Stop bits 1
Flow control Hardware
Setting the Monitor Settings
From the Desktop, select Start | Settings | Control Panel...
Double click on the Display icon.
Choose the Settings tab.
Set the Colors to 256 Colors.
Click on Apply.
Click on OK to close out the Display Properties dialog.
Depending on how the computer is set up, a dialog might appear, giving the option to restart the computer with the desired setting or apply without restarting. If this happens, choose to apply without restarting.
Setting up the laser in Xenetech
In Xenetech go to Page | Engraving Table Defaults...
The information should be entered as follows:
Table Height: 18
Table Width: 30
Table Type: 9
XY Steps per Inch: 1000
Z Steps per Inch: 1000
Laser Com Port: Choose the configured Com Port
X LeadScrew Compensation (in steps): 0
Y LeadScrew Compensation (in Steps): 0
Vector Mode Maximum Cycles (-5 to 40): 0
Vector Mode PWM Factor (-5 to 40): 1
Table Vertical Travel (Steps or Measure): 10.5
Raster Mode Maximum Cycles (-5 to 40): 0
Raster Mode PWM Factor (-5 to 40): 1
Engraving Table X Home Location: Left
Engraving Table Y Home Location: Top
Click on OK when finished
Under the Line/Group, be sure that:
Wire Frame is NOT checked
Normal line IS checked

In Xenetech, select Line/Group | Hatch Fill Setup...
Be sure that Engrave Outline (Polygon) is set to Don’t Engrave
Click on OK when finished
Go to File | Save Preferences
You will see a message asking if you wish to overwrite your preference file. Select OK.
