Grid Cutout
A Few Tricks Using Grid Cut Out
Going Directly to the Grid Cut Out
After downloading a job with Grid Cut Out turned 'ON', you can advance directly to the grid cut out by pressing the 'FORWARD' switch on the Pendant before pressing 'START'. The green READY light will flash as you press 'FORWARD', indicating it has accepted the command. Pressing 'START' now, will go directly to Grid Cut Out.
I Forgot To Turn on Grid Cut Out!!
If you engrave a job and forget to turn on Grid Cut Out, there is a way to salvage the job. The Grid Cut Out Amount can be modified so that the material is not wasted. The Grid Cut Amount determines the distance from the edge of the material that the grid Cut Out will be performed. When a grid Cut Out is to be performed, the entire job will be engraved offset by the "Grid Cut Out Amount". For example, a value of "0.25" will cause the job to be offset a quarter of an inch from the edges of the material. A value of "0.50" will cause the job to be offset a half inch from the edge of the material.
Note that the height and width of the "Workspace" (material) must encompass the entire area of the plate(s) to be engraved on it plus twice the value of the "Grid Cut Out Amount". In other words, if there is not enough space from the edge of the plate(s) to the edge of the workspace (material) to do the grid Cut Out, then the "Grid Cut Out" option will NOT be available.
To modify the Grid Cut Out, do the following:
In Xenetech select Misc | Setup...
Set the Grid Cut Out Amount to zero
Be sure to lower the guide rails one the engraver before engraving!
With the Grid Cut Out Amount set to zero, the engraver will cut right along the edge of the material. Therefore it is important to lower the guide rails before doing the grid cut out.
Getting Rounded Corners on a Grid Cut Out
Grid Cut Out Corner Radius allows you to cut round cornered plates using grid cut out (instead of just rectangular plates). Setting this value to 0.000 creates standard rectangular plates when cut out by the engraver. Placing a non-zero value here will round off the corners of the plate. The amount it 'rounds off' is determined by the radius amount. A value of 0.25 will create 0.25 inch 'radiused' corners. This feature works in conjunction with grid cut out, so you must have grid cut out on to make this work.
Note: This mode of grid cut out will cut complete round cornered boxes when in operation (as opposed to standard, same sized plate grid cut out, which cuts vertical and horizontal lines to create the grid).
To modify the Grid Cut Out Corner Radius:
In Xenetech select Misc | Setup...
Set the Grid Cut Out Corner Radius to the desired amount.
